Amazon Error 8560: Required product information is missing

Error 8560 usually names a missing attribute for a SKU that Amazon could not match to an existing ASIN. The missing field may be standard_product_id, product_type, department, manufacturer, or another requirement for that product type.

What Amazon is telling you

The useful part of this error is the attribute name inside the message. Amazon did not find an existing ASIN for the row, so it treated the submission as a new product and checked whether the row contains the fields required to create it.

A recently downloaded template matters. Amazon moderators identify the wrong or outdated product-type template as a common trigger for 8560.

Why this happens

  • The field named in the report is blank, invalid, or not recognized in that row.
  • The Product ID is missing or does not match any ASIN.
  • The file was built from the wrong category/product-type template.
  • A field that appears optional in an older template is required for the current product type.

What to check first

01Missing Attributes [name]

Find the exact attribute named after this phrase; this is the first field to inspect.

02standard_product_id

Verify the ID and its type, or follow your approved GTIN exemption exactly.

03product_type / item_type

Use a valid value from the current template or Product Classifier.

04Template version

Download a fresh template for the marketplace and product type.

Fix the field named in the report

  1. Filter the processing report to Error 8560 and group rows by the missing attribute name.
  2. Open the Data Definitions tab in a fresh template and check the accepted values and row rules for that attribute.
  3. Correct the Product ID and Product ID Type. If the product is GTIN-exempt, make sure the brand and category exactly match the exemption.
  4. Populate the missing attribute on every affected child or product row, not only the first SKU.
  5. Upload a small corrected batch first and confirm the new report before resubmitting the full catalog.

Example: Missing Attributes standard_product_id

If the message names standard_product_id, Amazon did not match the SKU and did not receive a usable identifier for new-ASIN creation. Check the barcode, product-id-type, and any GTIN exemption before editing descriptive fields.

Before you upload again

  • Every affected SKU has the attribute named in its own error message.
  • Product IDs and types are valid, or the GTIN exemption is applied correctly.
  • The template matches the current product type and marketplace.

Questions sellers ask

Why does 8560 show when the column is filled?
The value may be invalid for the product type, placed on the wrong row, or submitted through an outdated template. Check the current Data Definitions tab and the exact missing attribute printed for that SKU.
Is Error 8560 always a barcode problem?
No. The message can name standard_product_id, but it can also name product_type, department, manufacturer, or another required attribute. Follow the field named in your report.
